To all knitters

Between the radiation and the chemo, my friends' mom's hair is gone. We're heading into our cold season here & I'm concerned about keeping her head warm.

I've finished two woolen caps for her so far & will crochet a tam for her in the next couple of days. Anyone out there have a pattern for headwear that will both be attractive & knit up quickly?

One of my favourites is the Silk Garden Beanie

It's quick and looks nice. If silk garden is too scratchy, then any soft worsted weight yarn is good. Berrocco's Ultra alpaca (50/50 wool/alpaca) is very soft and very warm.

I love all the patterns in Charlene Schurch's Hats On! 31 warm and winsome caps for knitters. (ISBN 0-89272-435-8 if you have to get it by interlibrary lending service)
