Blown out of the water....
My friend Dan has done it again.
Men who do fiber crafts are not that many; men who spin are rare. I gave him my old wheel year before last. It has given him many hours of pleasure, which pleases me no end. He is a meticulous spinner. I've been playing ith the craft for 30 odd years & am nowhere near his talent.
This past year we've both been playing with the Tencel-merino blend that was the spinner's challenge at the fair two years ago. I've been making a worst weight 2 ply, while he's been turning out a fingering weight 3 ply. He turned that spectacular yarn into a fisherman's scarf for his wife (& for which he took a 2nd place at the fair). I also watched him ply that teal merino tencel to a bombyx silk single and turn that into a fisherman's scarf that I thought was for him. That took a 3rd at the same fair. I watched him work on it this year. Guess what I got for X-mas! Ya' could knocked me over with a feather!
