Channeling my inner Harpo....

So I'm voiceless today.

Not unheard, just voiceless.

I came into town to hide in my office. I had started doing paperwork at home, but the cyber connection to the office was painfully slow, so I bit the bullet, showered and washed my hair (which as it's more than halfway down my back, take some time) then dressed and drove into Santa Rosa.

A call partner agreed to cover my call last night, and when she heard me, turned into a Jewish mother, insisting that I start on some codeine cough syrup. The pharmacies out our way were both closed, but my husband had a bottle that was only 5 months out of date. I spoke with her earlier today and she called the place around the corner from my office for some syrup as well as an inhaler, which has been an enormous help. (That along with last night's avgolemono, and today's wor won ton!)

I'm able to croak, but little more. I have to whistle to get anyone's attention, which is a bit less odd looking than waving my arms around. I'm gesturing wildly, like a mad game of charades, regretting that my ASL is so limited. Not that it would help, since no one in my office signs.

Or maybe you could tap out messages in Morse Code.

Oh, no one in your office knows that either? :-)
