Fashion sense......
Aug. 7th, 2006 09:40 pmBought myself a cowboy hat a month or so ago. A Stetson. Bone. No hat band. Fits perfectly, no small feet given the size of my noggin. Like the way it looks, Ebay made it inexpensive, and it keeps the sun off of my face neck and ears. The trouble with red hair is that it comes with redheaded skin - I burn to a crisp in 30 minutes.
Anyway, there's a guy who calls on my office, a drug detail rep. who has a side business in Western & Native American memorabilia. I've gotten several things from him in the past, and when he saw the Stetson on my bookshelf last month, he mentioned he had some horsehair hatbands that would be just the thing for it. He stopped by today, with about a dozen for me to choose from. I settled on three of them and it cost me what what one would have cost at a shop here in town. The colors will work not only on this hat, but on the black Resistol cowboy hat, as well as the straw Stetson I have my eyes on, and I can change them depending on what I choose to wear them with.
When he was here, my medical assistant walked in with the boots I snagged on Ebay that had just been delivered. (Oggie, I know what you're thinking - hold your tongue. Yes, I didn't need them, but I did want them and vintage, Nacona boots, in elephant hide will wear forevah! And no my name is NOT Imeldo.) The rep and my assistant looked at the bone colored hat, the bone elephant boots, the hat bands that will work with them, as well as the western shirt I was wearing at the time, and commented, "Wow, it all goes together."
What a surprise. Of course it goes well together! After all:
A) I'm a gay man.
B) Both my grandfather's were tailors.
C) I'm a fiber artist - a color wheel is a pretty basic thing!
