News about Dwayne.............
Nov. 3rd, 2009 08:23 pmAmen, finally the news about Dwayne
malamute_daddy is good. (Hossannah on high!)
I spoke with Bill last night. Dwayne has finally been fever less for the last three days, and now that he's getting steroids, he's improving. They've been able to dial down the amount of oxygen and apparently the pressure on the ventilator. There is significant suspicion of BOOP (bronchiolitis obliterans), something that's not particularly common but which will respond to high dose steroids.
They have not done the tracheotomy that they had been talking about, but if the trend continues they may be able to take him off the ventilator by the end of the week and avoid any surgery.
For once, there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel, and it isn't an oncoming train.
Please folks, all the positive thoughts, prayers, positive juju is still needed. Dwayne still has a long haul ahead of him.
