Politics of race....
Aug. 27th, 2016 08:41 amThis week Donald Trump had the audacity to call Hillary Clinton a bigot.
Really?
Psychiatric providers refer to this as projection.
30 years ago, Trump got dinged for refusing to rent apartments to people of color. He's called Mexicans entering the country rapists, and drug runners, (& I'm sure some of them are good people.) He's not only called for a ban of Muslims entering the country, he called for a registration of all Muslims already here. (This last one sends chills down my spine. My people were forced to wear Stars of David prior to being taken to camps where they were murdered. This includes my great grandfather for whom I'm named.) Before you say that could never happen here, talk to George Takei. Ask him what it was like growing up in an internment camp for Japanese Americans.
Oh yeah, & who was the #1 birther in this country, ceaselessly publicly challenging the citizenship of our president, the only non-white person ever to hold the post? And he has the unmitigated chutzpah to call Mrs. Clinton a bigot?
He's now turning to people of color and saying they should vote for him; what do they have to lose? Only HE can deliver for them. Really?
After listening to Mr Trump over the past 8 years, I've never been certain if he was running for commander-in-chief or xenophobe-in-chief. Frankly, I think his current ploy nominally appealing to people of color is in truth an attempt to get white suburban Republicans who've been 'dismayed' by his blatantly racist public statements of the recent past to support him. This is just like his statement in his acceptance speech at the RNC convention alleging only he could & would protect the LGBT community from shariah law. How about protecting my community from the persecution of the far Xian right? There is no shariah law in the US, but we have plenty of Roy Moores, Mary Fallons, & Pat Robertsons.
