Things well worth seeing......
Feb. 1st, 2018 05:52 pmBeen scarce here as I’ve been visiting Mom for the past 10 days and life has been rather busy. At 87 mom’s been the center of my attention since I got here.
We’ve been to the movies since my arrival, last week to see the Shape of Water and after supper we head out to see “Three Billboards...”. Last night we made the trek into NY to see Uma Thurman’s in “The Parisian Woman.
The Shape of Water was superb. I understand why such Oscar buzz for this film. I’ll not go into much detail other than to recommend it thoroughly. This is the 4th film with Octavia Spencer I’ve seen in the last year and I think her nomination as a supporting actor is well deserved. My sister has raved about 3 Billboards..., and often we agree about films. We both loved Netflix’ Mudbound when we saw it last November. We’ll see if the trend continues.
As for the theater last night, I thoroughly enjoyed it as did mom. It’s a modern day retelling of a 19th century French comedy, “La Parisienne”, set in today’s Washington, DC. If you’re in or near NY during its run, I can recommend it for your entertainment. We scored 1/2 off seats at TKTS in the center orchestra 3 hours before curtain time. It’s at the Hudson Theater on W 44th.
