I prefer listening to the BBC and often I turn to Unívision, even though the latter is American owned. The amount of coverage our broadcast media gives to current events outside of our borders is, at best, piss poor.
It was in listening to my NY Times The Daily podcast this morning that I found out about India’s military incursion over last weekend into Kashmir, a semi-autonomous state. While I was grateful for all the detail, history, & nuance a 1/2 hour podcast is able to provide, why is it I’ve heard essentially nothing about this in our broadcast media? The world’s largest democracy has just done an internal military invasion of a semiautonomous region and I first hear about it 5 days later, in a podcast?
Meanwhile, in the American televised media, it’s Trump and his shenanigans vs. the Democratic Presidential competition 23/7, as if there’s nothing else going on in the world.
Ungh.
