This has been a long and very busy week. Too much paperwork, too little time for myself.

Twice this week my cat has awakened me. Both Thursday morning and this morning he was simply standing on my chest, looking down into my face. When I opened up my eyes, he was staring down at me. He had been absolutely silent until that point, but when my eyes opened he simply chirruped, "mrow," as if to say good morning. On Thursday was able to back to sleep, only to have the dog lay his head on my shoulder, a short time later.

I was grateful to the cat this morning for his awakening me. I was in the midst of a nightmare. In my dream, President Romney had nominated Rick Santorum to the Supreme Court, and he was sailing unchallenged through his Senate hearings. Even eight hours later, the very thought sends icewater through my veins.
