The breadth of the support for overturning both Prop 8 and DOMA astounds me. SCOTUS is going to do, what they are going to do, and until their decisions are announced, it remains for the moment, speculation. However, the knowledge that our community is no longer alone, no longer condemned to the fringes of society, gives me great hope for not only our future, but the future of all of us.

My oldest godchild, who is now 19, is a part of our community, and in all likelihood that her choice of if and when and whom she may marry when that time is right, will be her decision, her call, her right, makes my heart light and my soul sing. That she will likely not have to wait for 27 years, as my husband and I did, will be a cause for celebration.
