Pet Memories.....

osodecanelaIn July of 1980, two weeks into my residency, I adopted a lilac point siamese and christened him Laszlo. A more wonderful feline has yet to cross my path, and I've met some neat cats in my day.
Fast forward a couple of years. We've moved cross country and in move, Laszlo contracted FLV and subsequently developed lymphoma. When LJ and I moved in with one another, he already had a cat who was negative, so Laz, who was undergoing kitty chemo went to live with a friend of ours, Patty Kuykendahl. After his third refill, the vet asked, "You have a medical license why don't you take over writing the scripts?"
"Is that legal?"
"It's just prednisolone. Here's the dose; just call it in to Long's"
With the vet still looking at him monthly, I thought why not. So I dialed a pharmacy and when the pharmacist asked for the patient's name, I had to come up with a surname pronto. Thus my cat was rechristened Laslo Kuykendahl.
The druggist was amused by the name. "Hungarian and Dutch?" he enquired.
I smirked. "Actually, he's Thai."
"He's Thai?!?"
"Yup, but I know for a fact he was adopted."
