cat food math
Oct. 18th, 2005 09:49 amWe have a wolf hybrid who refuses to eat dog food. The vet says it isn't a problem, that the beast will only eat cat food, but then she isn't paying for it. Between Aaron (the wolf), the senior cat and the two kittens we go through a case of canned cat food every 2 1/2 days, at $0.59/can that gets real expensive real fast.
We wait until the stuff goes on sale avery few months at the local Safeway at $.25 or $.30/can and then buy upwards of 40 cases. It was on sale a couple of weeks ago, so I had them order 30 cases and got rain checks for 60 more. With the sale going on in all their stores, the order didn't come in until after the sale was over, which was no big deal as they honored the price, and to boot we got coupons for $.50 off our next purchase at safeway for every 15 cans purchased. After the first 30 we purchased, I had them go ahead and order another 40 cases which ran $240 (plus tax), instead of $540 and there were another $32 back in coupons to use this month. Not bad on the whole. Now if only I could get the beast to use a breath mint.
