I must be getting old......

Just had a phone call from a colleague's patient. Seems he's been hurting for the last 3 to 4 days and can't take the pain anymore. SO, he waits until his MD's office is closed, on the evening before a 4 day weekend (THANKSGIVING) and calls the covering MD, to ask what do. I unfortuantely cannot tell the man to go play in traffic, or something alse as trite. When I asked why he'd waited so long, he said he'd just gotten home from work, and didn't want to leave his job site. Apparently they don't have phones where he works.

I sent him to the ER.

What's frustrating me even more than his chutzpah, is that I feel a bit quilty for not feeling at all sympathetic to this guy's plight.
