Geez, I love Ebay....
Aug. 21st, 2008 02:17 pmIf I leave him alone for 15 minutes, when I come back my husband is building another deck. It happens every summer. This year it's a new deck above the woodshed. That puts it about 13 feet or so up in the air. He's put a bridge out to it from another deck he built a few years back. That one is only accessible from a ladder he just fortified as well.
All this called for a re-do of the woodshed itself. It used to hold about 1 1/2 cords of wood. It will shortly hold double that, if not more. This weekend he will roof the structure (remember this is below the new deck, leaving the wood in a relatively waterproof location. It also leaves me to make some sort of waterproof curtain for the front of the shed.
I hit the local fabric store the night before last to price indoor-outdoor fabric, which unfortuately started at $15 per yard, and that was only 48 inches wide. The woodshed's new opening is 12' wide and 10' long. Not buying at that price and that was for the cheaper stuff. The better quality started at $50/yard. Definitely not going there either.
I hopped onto Ebay last night and found 10 yards of the Sunbrella plus (better quality and 62" wide) for $55 plus shipping. Plus they have lightweight denim, suitable for scrub shirts (which I live in) in multiple colors (and while I love indigo and chambray, I do like to wear something else occassionally) for a song. I just scored an obscene amount of fabric for $200, including shipping, for less than the indoor/outdoor would have cost me locally after taxes.
AND I'm gonna have scrub shirts in hunter, sage, khaki, olive and 'natural' (the last being suitable for tie-dye, if I so choose) all in 100% preshrunk cotton 8-10oz denim. I'm stoked!
