Last July, after 27 years of living with the man I love, we did something I never thought we'd be able to do.

We got married.

I know many of you may be getting tired of hearing me marvel over this, but please, bear with me. In 1969 I started high school a stone's throw away from a little bar in Greenwich Village, the Stonewall Inn. The riots that happened there that June were for our community, the shots fired at Concord at the dawn of the Revolutionary War.

I'm amazed that we have come so far in my lifetime. Nor can I sit by and watch it taken away without taking action.

The tide is turning on Proposition 8 here in California. Less than 10 days ago, polls indicated that Prop 8 would go down to defeat and marriage equality for lesbians and gay men who choose to marry would be protected. Thanks to well-financed scare tactics and fear mongering, paid for in large part by right wing conservative Christian groups (the Mormons, Focus on the Family and the Knights of Columbus), polls now indicate proposition 8 will likely succeed.

Please, donate what you can now. If you go to the HRC by midnight, any donation made there will be doubled and will go directly to the anti-prop eight campaign.
