Not my day....
Jul. 9th, 2011 02:13 pmSo, there was a phone call at 2 this morning. From L&D.
At the hospital I don't like to do deliveries at.
Patient there, NOT in labor; could they send her home? Took me 2 hours to get back to sleep.
Our phone at the house is fritzing for the past 48 hours and not every call is getting thru. I'm running errands now, one of which is to get replacements for the 10 year old cordless set we have in the house.
Another was to get the recycling in. It's getting very old driving around with it in the car. I've been using the reverse vending machines, where you put in the can or bottle and it gives you a receipt you cash in inside the store. However, about 3 weeks back the machine stopped accepting any plastic bottles, so you have to turn those in when there's an attendant there to accept them. I pulled up, got on line, sorted everything and when it was my turn, the guy said, "sorry, but its time for my lunch break, come back in half an hour." I resisted temptation to get nasty. I pleaded with him. No luck. He said, "if I take you, then I have to take everyone else." There was no one else there. I packed everything up again and put it back in the car. I'll drop it off in town in a bit. At least it's now sorted. And I have the satisfaction of knowing, while this guy had the power to fuck with me, I'm not the one with the lousy job, taking in peoples recycling.
Just finished doing my car registration online. The renewal came this morning. Had to either be done on line by tomorrow or postmarked by TOMORROW, or I would have a $23 penalty. WTF? the notice was postmarked July 6th, got to me July 9th, and had to be postmarked by July 10th or pay a penalty. Postmarked 7-10, which is a Sunday. Oh, and my local post office isn't just closed Sunday. It's closed Saturday as well. Amen, I didn't need to get the car smogged as well.
Just got another call from L&D, this time from the right hospital. It was the right hospital this time. Their 3rd call. Without realizing it, I had the ringer off on my iPhone. Anyway, I have a patient there, not doing anything. Can they send her home? Different patient from the middle of the night, too. I have a feeling tomorrow is going to be a busy day.
Alright, enough belly aching. Time to hit the bloody road.
