Hurting....
Feb. 10th, 2012 06:03 pmI just signed the death certificate on a wonderful lady I had the privilege to take care of for the past 25 years. I know it was her time, and I am grateful she is no longer suffering, but damn it, I miss her presence in my life. I was a guest at her 100th birthday celebration 18 months ago, attended by about 150 people, when she got on stage and played her saxophone.
She was one class act, and as it was when my grandmother passed 7 years ago, at the tender age of 108, I was not ready to say goodbye yet.
There's much to be grateful for this week, affirmation by the 9th Circuit of Judge Walker's opinion on Prop 8, the successful votes in Washington State's legislature for Marriage Equality (Gov. Gregoire plans to sign in on Monday), and my husband returns tonight after a week back east visiting my mother-in-law.
