What is it about weddings that turn on the waterworks?

The bride, an absolutely lovely young woman (who absolutely adores my nephew), has had to cope with the untimely loss of a sister a few years back; she was understandably tearful a few times this weekend. I however had not expected to tear up myself. When I sat down 3 rows from the chupah, I looked up to see two tallit hanging overhead, the back one my father's prayer shawl. The front one turned out to belong to my sister's father-in-law, who died just last year.

I fought back my tears, remembering Pop. He was buried, per his request wrapped in his father's tallit. He always said it felt like having his father's arms around him. Seeing his shawl hanging there felt as though his blessings were present among us.
