I lived in Florida for a few of months back in the late 70's. My late grandparents retired to there, as has my mother-in-law, & my aunt, as well as a bunch of other relatives. While I did enjoy my time there, the current tilt to the right the state has undergone distresses me. It's with distinct pleasure that I note the above endorsement.
For those not familiar, Crist was the moderate Republican Governor of the state, who ran and lost to Tea Party darling Marco Rubio, in the campaign for Senate back in 2010. He's now a registered Independent, having realized the Republican Party has moved so far to the right, there is no place there for him. Sounds a bit like the frustration expressed by Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and Rep. Steve La Tourrette (R-Ohio), both of whom have decided to retire this year, rather than continue battling in the gridlock that is our congress.
The link will take you to the full Op-Ed piece Crist wrote for the Tampa Bay Times, this past Sunday:
