Grateful....
Nov. 29th, 2012 11:08 amAs we flew back from the east coast last Saturday, I spent some time reflecting and writing on gratitude and what I'm grateful for, standard for me at the Thanksgiving season. I'm not sure the piece is finished; when it is, I'll probably post it here.
This morning, I saw something on MSNBC that renews my faith in people and the noble things they can be capable of, those random acts of kindness one sees touted on bumper-stickers. Someone posted a cellphone capture of an NYC cop giving a pair of boots to a barefoot homeless man on the street. Seems the cop saw the man in the cold with nothing on his feet, went into a shoe store and purchased the boots for him. It would have gone unsung, had it not been for a passerby capturing it on his cell.
I'm not yet cynical enough to think this was a PR setup, but rather a modern day good Samaritan just doing the right thing. Made me misty and reaffirms there is still good in the world.
