Like many canids, if you're eating it, Arjuna wants to know what it is, and therefore he'll beg for it. Sometimes it's just curiosity, but sometimes it's something he knows he loves, in which case he will pull every trick he knows to get you to share it with him. Sit. Lie down. Offer his paw. Speak. Speak really loud.

He also has a sweet tooth. Have a cookie in one hand and a chop in the other? Hands down, Arjuna wants the cookie.

Last fall, I dried a boat-load of persimmons. Persimmons are the zucchini of the fruit world. The trees are prolific & most folks that have one have more fruit than they know what to do with. If word gets out that you like them, people you barely know will show up on your doorstep baring produce. Each fall my dehydrator gets a major work out.

Persimmons fresh, Arjuna will ignore. Dried & he's so excited, he's about ready to come out of his skin. I just brought a handful into the sitting room to discover I have an 80 lb. lap dog.

*giggles* Erich liked raspberries - that darn dog would get all the good ones because he could smell them and my 120-135 pound puppy buddy was so gentle he would pull the berry and leave the cores on the canes. Ian liked squash.

My male dachshunds have tended to be omnivorous. One of them loved grapefruit!

(OK, dachshunds don't digest grapefruit, so, don't be alarmed later on.)

Oh, and be careful with fruit.

There seems to be a problem with grapes causing kidney problems in dogs. And, I'm sure you know about macadamia nuts being toxic to dogs.

I'm the same way ... fresh persimmon is soso, but dried persimmon is great.

LOL in some respects dogs are even weirder than cats.
