Progbear gave me the letter “C”. (¡Gracias por esto, mi amigo!)

Leave a comment and I'll give you a letter; then you have to list 10 things you like that begin with that letter. After, post this in your journal, and give out some letters of your own.

Things that I like that start with “C”

1) Coffee! Not really human until my first cup of caffeine in the morning. Love a good cup of the stuff. I'm often seen by my patients with a coffee cup in my hand, so much so that 4 of them (all family - go figure!) have given me coffee cups covered with the label of an antique coffee brand, that just 'happens' to bear my last name. BTW, did you know that coffee drinkers have a lower incidence of Parkinson's Disease?

2) Chocolate! The darker the better. Good source of anti-oxidants to boot. Heart healthy stuff. (What's not to like?)

3) Caffeine! Thats right, caffeine. Not to awaken me, but to help ward off migraines, one of my least favorite things. I've ha migraines since the age of 17, amen not too frequently any more, but over the years I've discovered that a keeping a small amount of this stuff in my circulation makes suffering one less likely. On a couple of occasions, I've even been able to use the stuff to break a migraine when my normal med has been unavailable.

4) Chilies! Y'all should try my homemade "Agent Orange" - hot pepper orange marmalade. (Then there's Mango Napalm, Persimmon Napalm, Peach Napalm.....) AND id you know that capsaicin, the 'heat' in the chili is also an effective pain reliever when applied topically for many arthritis sufferers?

5) Cats! Siamese in general, but truly most felines that are friendly. I like them and generally they sense that and make a bee line for my lap (or chest) (or shoulder). Have two right now, Nathan and Noah, brothers and litter-mates, who are most often on top of me when I'm seated or lying down.

6) Chinese Food! 'specially Szechuan and Mandarin.

7) Coral! Beautiful to look at whether living and under water or polished as a gemstone. Could we try to do something about cleaning up out environment so we have still have this stuff for generations to come?

8) Clean Air!!! I grew up in the northeast, 10 minutes from an airport, as well as a major city trash dump. A good day was determined by which way the wind was blowing. Getting to live today in a redwood forest, amidst nature and plants that are replenishing our oxygen supply while binding greenhouse gases is a blessing, one that I thank the Deity for daily. Maintaining and supporting the trees and this land is a sacred trust.

9) Color! Ask Malamute Daddy what I can do to a stained T shirt.

10) Community! Spending time with folks I share things with, be it my friends, my religious community, other queer folk, other minority folk is nurture for me. I grew up feeling like the "other". Different. Odd. Community re-affirms us and our value as people.

On my sabbatical in Australia in 1994 I had the good fortune to spend some time on the Great Barrier Reef, so I completely agree on the aesthetics of coral. There are so many different kinds!

Thanks for posting this; it was very interesting.
