Prolotherapy....

I've been seeing a colleague who's a physiatrist (ie. a specialist in physical medicine).
I was an ice skater in my childhood, though not a very good one. Reality, I was more a klutz in my childhood! I had multiple ankle sprains, more than I can count, with the left side having been injured more than the right, perhaps 2 to 1. I'm afraid it's left me with a rather loose left ankle, the ligaments in the lateral ankle having been overstretched more than they should have been.
Christie, is not only a physiatrist, but an osteopath is well. When she first examined my ankle, she laughed.
She's injected me several times now, with nothing more than sterile sugar water. (D5W) Twice it's been directly into ligaments in my lateral left ankle with the hope that it will cause them to scar down a bit and tighten up. It's a bit early to tell whether it's working, but so far I'm rather pleased with what I'm seeing happening. (Please note, the looseness in the ankle has nothing to do with the inflammatory arthritis that had plagued me for so long. Now that I'm no longer having the inflammation in the smaller joints affecting my hands and feet, I am much more aware of what other issues have been giving me problems.)
I have to tell you, I'm amazed at bounding up a flight of stairs, & finishing neither winded, tachycardic, nor feeling any discomfort whatsoever.
