A bundle of raw emotions...

I'm feeling particularly raw.
Patient after patient is looking at me when I tell them I'm retiring, first with a frown, and then a smile. Almost without exception, people are taking it with good graces and telling me how much I deserve this.
And then at least a couple of times a day the tears come. Without exception it has been from someone I've seen for a long time. And then I have to steel myself not to do the same.
Calls have been coming from colleagues, telling me how much they have enjoyed working with me, telling me what they have thought of my caliber of work. That too has left me choked up on more than one occasion. Incidentally, I know of now three of us my age hanging it up before the end of the year, two of us the end of August.
I have a couple of people I need to call. I cannot have them learning this from a letter. I must speak with them first.
Meanwhile the crap that has gone on in the last week, is wearing thin on my nerves and is getting me. Brexit for example. Amazingly stupid and it's hurt world markets. The Dow was down another 300, as I was leaving the house this morning. As someone about to retire, market volatility leaves me anxious and sweaty. Further, I cannot see how it's going to help the British Midlands, and now both Scotland and Northern Ireland may well wind up leaving the UK, in order to remain in the EU. AND the blasted tone deaf turd who's the presumptive Republican nominee for president who was in Scotland the day after the vote and at an impromptu press conference at one of his golf resorts, after cooing about his lighthouse suites, then proceeded to proclaim what a wonderful thing it was that Britain had taken control of their country back. The fall in the value of the British Pound would bring new tourism to the UK and would bring in more revenue. (subtext: I, Donald J. Trump, will do very well with this new golf resort.) Newsflash Donald - you said this CRAP in SCOTLAND, where the population voted 2 to 1 NOT to leave the EU. Just how stupid and self absorbed are you? Moreover, its a good thing Nigel Farage is not an American politician. I didn't think it was possible to find someone more socially offensive than the Donald.
SCOTUS overturned Gov. McDonald's prison sentence this morning in a unanimous decision. Haven't read it yet; I need to calm myself before I do so or I may spit tacks or toss my cookies. AND WTF is congress doing with any and all gun legislation? Someone please explain to me why there isn't more coverage of the sit-in on the floor of the House - and I mean on the FLOOR of the House. AS in Donna Edwards, John Lewis, Elijah Cummings, Stenie Hoyer, Raul Grijalva and dozens more.
