Yup, I AM a white boy.......
Sep. 9th, 2007 12:31 amI knew I'd be out in the sun today and thought I'd dressed appropriately. I was headed to the LJ Picnic in Delores Park, down in SF. The sunscreen went on, then I got dressed. Jeans, not shorts. A tank, WITH a long sleeved denim shirt over it. Left my hair loose, until I was there and in the shade and only then did it get tied back. Besides it took almost that long to be fully dry.
I watched the nice looking, bare chested boys lying in the sun, running around playing frisbee, mostly from the safety of the shade of the palm tree grove. I did NOT sit down once in the sun, for fear I might forget myself and stay there too long. I still managed to burn my face. I forgot to wear a hat.
Oddly enough, I commented to a very sexy cub, a man who's naturally a lovely shade of light brown and who's lost most of his hair on top, that it looks very sexy on him, but that I would not have handled going bald at all well, because frankly, I burn. Little did I realize I was doing just that, right thru an SPF 30. Ironically, he did mention, I COULD wear a hat.
I got home after dark. My husband took one look at me as I walked thru the front gate and asked, "why is your face so red?" I'd been feeling somewhat flushed before that and wondered if I was coming down with a fever. It hadn't dawned on me yet, that I'd gotten burnt.
My forehead, nose and cheeks match my hair at the moment. I hurts to smile. I have this sneaking suspicion, my CPAP mask is not going to be much fun to put on tonight.
