The oldest of our godchildren was living with us in our in-law unit until Feb., and has now moved out. I have extremely mixed feelings about it, many of which focus on her no longer being in school, but then I have no control over that. She's now working, which is a good thing, but its not the kind of work that has a major future. Perhaps it will be the impetus to get her butt back into school. My fingers are crossed.

That said, both my husband and I are having a degree of empty nest, not that we have the luxury of dwelling on that. We need to rent the in-law unit as well as the cottage down the hill for the income. With Roger's death, the cottage income is gone for the moment.

The in-law unit got listed on Craig's list just last night and already 3 people have come to view the space and another is slated to look at it either late this afternoon or tomorrow. I'm a bit surprised at so much interest so quickly, but the price on the space is right and a reliable a friendly tenant would be welcome. I will need to remember to wear my slippers into the kitchen to avoid making to much noise in the early morning when walking into the kitchen. (That's directly over the in-law.)

Given the very rapid interest in the in-law unit, which is no nearly as nice a space at the cottage, I suspect we'll have no real trouble finding someone for the cottage once it's ready. LJ has been appointed to execute Roger's estate which includes the disposition of his things; with luck the cottage will be ready to rent by the 1st of May. Renting both the units will make our lives much easier.
