I logged on last night, having been away from my computer for several days (ah, the joys of continuing professional ed.) and found the strike going on. I read why, & chose to observe it, so switched off the computer, neither posting nor commenting on anyone's journal.

As for interpersonal vitriol, jeez, why is that needed? There is so much angst and anger in the hubbub of the living world, that need not venture into this cyberrealm. This can be a refuge for thoughtful, measured prose; a place where we can stop and really put pen to paper (or keystroke to monitor) to find the right words to express what we think or are experiencing, and how we react to it.

I was speaking with someone within the past few days about why I choose to write on a social networking website. For me, its a chance to stretch my legs creatively, to express my thoughts in the written word. Commentary is welcome, but not required. If what I write touches someone in a positive way, I'm glad, but in the end, its more for me than for readers.

I choose to follow the journals of people who delight me with the way they express themselves; people who's work becomes a delight for the eye, as well as the mind. I'm enriched by people who by their perspective make me stop, think and re-consider.
