Off to take a hike.....
Apr. 14th, 2008 07:13 pmMade it to the gym yesterday for the first time in I cannot remember how long. I picked a gloriously beautiful afternoon, knowing that the general clientele would be rather sparce. I'm still none to keen on doing this for a larger audience. (gee, look at the fat boy go.)
I spent 33 minutes on the elliptical stepper. The sweat was pouring off of me and when I got to 33 minutes and just over 2 miles for a calorie burn of 525 Kcal, I decided it was enough for my first time back. None too shabby. Not for my first day at the gym.
After my shower, I simply sat on the bench for 10 minutes, wrapped in a bath sheet. There's a tv high on the wall in the men's locker, and I got lost in the news for a bit while I adjusted to the calorie burn. To be honest, I was both surprised and disappointed; pleased that I was in better shape than I'd expected to be able to spend longer than 30 minutes with my heart rate in the 140's without any dignificant difficulty, but troubled by the reality of my weight. All in all, it was a good day. Definitely a good day.
It's been a rather busy day today. Lots of patients to see, and now finally at 7 I'm off to go take my hike. Then it'll be off to home for a bowl of Posole! Doña Bertha strikes again! Just called my husband to let him know its Posole night. (Poor boy, this is outside of his usual experience, but damn it, I am going to expand his culinary horizons!)
