I needed to get out and sing last night.

It’s been weeks since I’d been out to karaoke at the RRR. There’s not been the time or frankly at times the voice. However, last night we hit dinner at the restaurant there and I stayed over to sing.

Apparently, I was in good voice last night. With my first time at the mike, the bar grew noticeably quieter. People stopped their conversations to listen to me, which means either a) you’re really loud, b) you’re really good or c) you’re really, really bad. I had started with The Music of the Night from Phantom, and I nailed the high notes. It’s always a song that makes me nervous. There are two places where the notes are just at the top of my range. Will I hit them, or not? Most of the time I do. Last night I did. I followed with Georgia On My Mind, and when I got off the stage, I had 3 guys come up to me, thanking me for singing. It was a good night.

Did 7 songs over the course of a couple of hours, and each time they were received well. Some sandards, a couple of show tunes, a few country songs; all in all a very satisfying evening.

SO, I’ve had my performance fix for the moment. Time to get back to my real life.

How about something torchy, like Melissa Manchester's "Fire In The Morning" or some Carly Simon? :)

Love 'em. I've done some Carly Simon stuff. Should sing her stuff ore often. Did "I Am Changing" from Dreamgirls; does that count as torchy?
