Feb. 18th, 2009 01:21 pm[Error: unknown template qotd] Having been on a vision quest to find my totem, I'm clear. You do not choose your totem spirit guide; it chooses you. My totem confused me when I first saw it, appropriate as it is the guide, not you.
In some ways, this question belittles the totem, it's importance and the spirituality behind the vision quest.

Date: 2009-02-19 05:55 am (UTC)We had set up a 'semi-sweatroom' in our home, and had started in a guided meditation for several hours. The sweat ran down my forehead, stinging my eyes, even though they were closed. I finally saw my totem in a flash of bright light, and my bewilderment was palpable. The shaman later described my face as a very clear "WTF?!?", one of the clearest "WTF" faces he had ever seen.

More about whatever preconceived notions you might have had, or what animals you feel a special affinity for.
