LJ's birthday.......
Feb. 22nd, 2009 12:57 pm....my husband, LJ, that is.
So Jan (the friends that was Best Woman when we got married) and I took my husband out to dinner last night for his birthday. Neither of us had any success finding him something appropriate as a gift, but was did take him our for dinner. Much to his credit, he steered us to a small local bistro, Cafe les Jumelles in downtown Monte Rio.
The food was superb! You've likely heard to phrase, "it's so good, it'll make you slap yo' mama!" I was smacking my female progenitors right back to 1820, it was so good. Disturbingly, the place was almost empty on a Saturday night. After last nights meal, the last thing I want to see is this place close. My husband ordered a pasta primavera which rapidly dissappeared from his plate. Jan and I both ordered the pork tenderloin, served on a bed of a risotto that boasted apples and pomegranate seeds, alongside gorgonzola potato pancakes and seasonal veggies. I ate very, very slowly, 'cuz I wanted to savor every last ion that was on my plate, it was just so insanely good. The tenderloin had been grilled to perfection, and was fork tender and juicy.
You can bet your sweet bippy we will go back again, and SOON!
