So once again, hell has frozen over. A federal district court judge has overturned that state's marriage inequality. As of today there is a temporary 14 day stay, which grants the state enough time to go thru their legal motions to request a stay from the 11th circuit court of appeals, which declined a stay when Florida requested one. Further SCOTUS declined issuing a stay as well.

So the handwriting is on the wall in Alabama. We will hear wedding bells for same sex couples that have chosen (for what ever reason) to live there, almost without question, by the 10th of next month.

We need to start an "office pool" on which state will be the last one.

It will be a tie

My prediction is it will be a tie, made up of the following states: Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, the Dakotas, Arkansas, and of course your current state of residence, Nebraska. I predict the 5th circuit will act before SCOTUS and will bring Texas, Louisiana, & Mississippi into the fold by the early spring. I also predict the Kansas will still be dragging its feet county by county by June, & that Arkansas' Supremes won't act before their federal counterparts. The only state I have questions about is Missouri. I don't have a sense what their state courts will do with their patchwork in the state and if they'll address it before SCOTUS rules.
