Would I have chosen this for myself? Dunno. I never knew either man, though I idolized both my maternal grandparents. In reality, I prefer my nickname as its unusual & it's more likely to be remembered. Daves are a dime a dozen while Weaver is one of a kind.

I'm named for my two paternal Civil War era ancestors. My proper name "Bailey" was a source of discomfort when I was a kid, now it's become fashionable.

And in my home neighborhood, with David Russo two doors down, David Wallstetter 3 doors down, Davids Cohen, Stein and Colucci directly across the street, when a mother leaned out the front door and hollered, "David!" it seemed like half the boys in the street turned around. The other uber common boy's names for that neighborhood and that era were Robert, Paul and Anthony.
