Barry's couch finds a home...
Sep. 16th, 2016 05:21 pmBarry was my late brother in law. LJ's older brother was a legally blind, crazy, Vietnam vet. Barry passed away in 2002 and my husband inherited his estate, which included a rather nice sleeper couch, then in good condition. I'm not sure why Barry sprang for a higher quality sleeper couch. It's not like he didn't have a decent bed, nor did I ever know him to have overnight guests.
In any event, after Barry died, the couch came to the back staff room in my office. It was where I slept if I had someone in early labor, and didn't want to drive all the way home, only to turn around and run back in to town in the middle of the night. Over the years the couch has served it's purpose.
With my retirement and closing the office, this was one of the items that needed simply to go. I listed it on craigslist yesterday & a young 20 something just picked it up with her mom and boyfriend. We've just finished wrestling it out the door and loading it into her mother's SUV.
Oddly enough, I'm glad to know that it's going to a "good home", rather than the dump or good will. I hope my brother-in-law would be pleased to know his couch, (that knowing him, he likely spent a small fortune for,) will be in the living room of two 20 somethings just starting out, a place for them and their two kittens to curl up in front of the TV and spend evenings dreaming of their future.
