philhasablog is doing a wonderful and noble thing......

When I logged on this morning to LJ to see whats going on with my friends, I found in a post by gryphons_hole that philhasablog is planning to run in the Vancouver Marathon next May, and has set a goal of raising $5K for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Reading gryphons_hole posts on surviving his lymphoma have touched me deeply and have helped me with some of my own issues in mourning my father, who died a dozen years ago (can it really be that long ago?), after a 13 year battle with leukemia.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society supports cancer patients and their families with financial assistance that helps with treatment expenses insurance doesn’t cover. In this holiday season of Chanukah, X-mas, Eide, Solstice and Kwanzaa, what greater gift is there than the gift of life?
