Just drove back all the way into Santa Rosa from home. Forgot my bloody needles, and all the pharmacies in the west county were closed. It was worth the drive, although I felt rather dumb. (Red hair, blonde roots)

Its week 2 of the new medication. It's working. Have not seen a sugar over 109 since I started. Like that a lot. AND I'm down about 18 pounds. In the last 10 days.

Now a chunk of that was water weight. One of the side effects of the medication I've stopped taking is fluid retention and I had that in spades. Swollen legs every night, which now in essence is almost completely gone. Hosannah on high, amen. I was so tired of that. I'm breathing easier and feeling better.

It's not just water that's gone. I'm not eating all that much, as I said in my last post. 1100 kcal is a big day of eating. Last week, when I decided enough was enough, stopped the old med and went out and purchased the new (which at $200 was not a pittance), I weighed in 70 pounds heavier than a year ago when I started the Actos. Thats on a home scale, spring type so its and approximation, but a reasonable one. This morning, I was 18 lbs lighter than prior to my first dose.

The last two days I put on clothing that was too tight for me to wear last week. A shirt that I didn't dare wear with out a vest on top, is now comfortable, even when I sit down. A belt, that I could not close I wore today, albeit on the last notch, but it was around my waist and not hanging uselessly in my closet. The pants, binding on the waist 10 days ago, now fit and fit well. I sat in them a whole day without regretting pulling them out of the closet this morning.

This weekend I get to put together all the data to fight my insurance company with. I don't want to pay for this out of pocket. At $200 a month, thats going to get prohibitive real quickly.
