In retrospect, I'm glad I said no, though it was a difficult decision at the time. Their marriage subsequently failed and I no longer have contact with either of them. Watching both their marraige and my relationship with each of them unravel was awful. Had there been a child involved, that I had helped conceive that now I would not be able to have any contact with would have made that so much more painful.
