Dear Speaker Ryan...
Jun. 14th, 2016 12:39 pmWe don't need a moment of silence to honor the victims of Orlando. We need legislation to limit access to assault weapons.
We don't need lip service. We need action.
Almost 15 years ago our society found out the hard way terrorists can use airplanes as weapons of mass destruction. We responded. We now go to the airport 1-2 hours earlier than we used to get through TSA security checks. We take off our shoes, our belts, our jackets. We get patted down. We go through xray machines.
We have a no fly list. So why is it our government can identify people they feel are too risky to allow on a plane, but the same people are OK to purchase an assault weapon? What's wrong with this picture? I'm not saying making the no fly list the no buy list is THE solution, though it may constitute a start. What I am saying is limits need to be set on who should have access to assault weapons, or more importantly who should not.
