Guess who I met today.
Jul. 3rd, 2013 09:57 pmThere's a little convenience store midway on my drive home. I stopped there this evening, to get my husband a doughnut.
When I got inside there was a single doughnut left. I walked to the counter and paid for it and then noticed that's someone with whom I'm friendly, standing in the back of the store, so I turned and walked back to say hello. We joked for a moment about my being able to change my Facebook status to "married, filing jointly". Then, I turned to leave, but as I walked to the door I noticed an older couple at the cash register.
"Damn," I thought, "that man looks just like Jerry Brown."
I shook my head. What on earth would Gov. Brown be doing out on the Russian River? I walked out the door.
Then I stopped and looked back. It was the governor. Buying some coffee. In a countryside convenience store. One where I stop for coffee almost everyday.
Mr Brown and his companion exited the store and walked right past me & down the steps.
"Governor?"
He stopped, and turned around. Looking up at me, he smiled. "Yes?"
"I just want to thank you for everything that you did around prop. 8."
"Ah. Yes." He smiled again. "You're welcome." Then he turned, got into his vehicle.
